Doing all the work yourself can be overwhelming, tiring and unproductive. Having
a few employees can greatly increase your productivity. However, you must weigh
the increase productivity against the cost.
Talk with your farm's CPA to be sure you have your accounts set up properly to be
able to pay employees.
Finding the right employees can be a critical part of a successful farm. Be sure
to lay out expectations so both you and the employee are operating under the same
assumptions. Train your employees to begin to look for areas that need attention
so you don't have to consistently give direction. As employees begin to advance
in their knowledge and understanding, be sure to reward their hard efforts.
